Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) post within the Institute of Dentistry at Bart’s and The London Medical School, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL).
The position is within the internationally recognized Blizard Institute, which is the largest institute of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry that bring together areas of modern biomedicine, with particular expertise in cell biology, genomics, immunology, neuroscience, primary care, population health and trauma sciences.
The PDRA will participate in one of two research projects: 1) investigate the role of epithelial cells in immune cell development and maturation; and/or 2) dissect the cellular and molecular mechanisms in wound healing and tumour formation on the oral epithelia. The projects focus on the cross-talk between epithelial and immune cells and will involve utilizing transgenic mice and human samples combined with genomics, transcriptomics and live imaging to dissect the molecular mechanisms involved.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Genetics, Developmental Biology, Immunology or equivalent and have significant laboratory bench skills in molecular and cell biology techniques. Ideally be a holder of Home Office Personal Licence or equivalent overseas certification.
The post is full-time for 24 months. Starting salary will be in the range £34,220 - £40,194, depending on experience per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
