Within Queen Mary, the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences is a large and expanding academic unit, which provides a supportive and friendly environment and encourages excellent teaching and interdisciplinary research.
We are seeking to appoint a candidate to the Department of Chemistry, who can develop and deliver high-quality teaching at all levels in our BSc and MSci programs in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and/or Chemistry.
The post holder will:
- Deliver high quality teaching including making innovations in key aspects of teaching and learning
- Maximise opportunities for public engagement in the subject
- Make important pedagogical contributions to the field
- Contribute to the administration of key University activities
- Advance pedagogical knowledge through publications or other forms of scholarship or performance
Applicants must have appropriate subject knowledge and have the ability to deliver teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level and in large or small group settings with some guidance at Lecturer level. At Senior Lecturer level applicants should have significant experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Candidates should have an excellent academic background with a PhD in chemistry, medicinal/pharmaceutical chemistry or a related field or equivalent professional qualification and/or experience.

The post is full time, fixed term for 12 months and with a start date of September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is available as a result of maternity leave and it is expected that you will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity leave exercise their right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month.
The salary will be in the range of £41,682 - £51,899 (Grade 5/6 Lecturer) or £54,853 - £61,311 (Grade 7 Senior Lecturer) per annum and will be in accordance with experience and qualifications. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
