Are you interested in the theory of causality? Do you want to improve the methods we use to discover causal, or other, relationships from data? Are you interested in algorithms that discover the Bayesian Network graph for causal inference, and the Bayesian Decision Network graph for optimal decision making under uncertainty?
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Bayesian Artificial Intelligence. The postdoc will work with a) data pre-processing methods for causal discovery, b) machine learning algorithms that discover Bayesian Network graphs, c) evaluation methods that assess the accuracy of causal graphs, and d) diverse case studies (e.g., economics, sports, medicine) to test the performance of Bayesian graphs. The Postdoctoral position is part of the EPSRC project “Bayesian Artificial Intelligence for Decision Making under Uncertainty”. You can read more about the project at: www.researchgate.net/publication/325848089_Bayesian_Artificial_Intelligence_for_Decision_Making_under_Uncertainty.
Applicants should hold a PhD (awarded or reasonably expected to be awarded within 3 months) in an area related to Computer Science. Self-motivated and hardworking to aim for excellence is essential, as are excellent communication skills. Applicants with advanced knowledge in areas such as statistical/probabilistic machine learning are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have knowledge of Bayesian Networks, and the ability to implement and improve machine learning algorithms. Knowledge of machine learning algorithms that discover Bayesian Network graphs and knowledge of evaluation methods that assess the accuracy of causal graphs is desirable.
The post is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 30 months or until 31 May 2021 (whichever is the shorter), and available immediately. Starting salary will be in the range of £36,677 – £38,709 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Anthony Constantinou at email@example.com .
