Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Clinical Communication Skills
It is expected that the successful candidate will have a degree in health, psychology or related subject and possess significant knowledge and teaching experience of clinical communication. The postholder will teach communication skills courses across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, namely the MBBS five-year and four-year Graduate-Entry, elements within the intercalated BSc in medical education and the Physician Associate Masters’ degree. The post involves responsibility for managing some modules within the communication skills curriculum. The postholder will be expected to assist with academic support of students requiring additional help, assessment of clinical communication, training of simulated patients, faculty development and Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities.
The post is managed by the Head of the Unit of Clinical and Communication Skills and based in the Clinical Skills Centre at the Robin Brook Centre, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, West Smithfield.
It is expected that the postholder will contribute to education research and deliver a commensurate amount of teaching and education support in other aspects of the curriculum according to their role and experience.
The post is full-time. Salary will be in the range of £44,815 - £50,030 per annum if appointed at Lecturer level, and £52,878 - £59,104 per annum inclusive of London Allowance if appointed at Senior Lecturer level Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
The post holder would be expected to travel to our other teaching sites as required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
