SBM is a research-led School that takes a humanities and social science led approach to our scholarship. We are a non-departmentalised school within QMUL’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), with its traditional strengths as a site of critical thinking in the humanities, law, history, geography and politics.
The School has been undergoing a period of rapid growth, doubling our number of academic staff over the last five years. We presently have around 75 academic and 16 administrative staff, with more appointments in process. We have over 1,000 undergraduate business management students, plus approximately 800 students taking business in combination with other degree subjects within QMUL. At the post-graduate level we have around 450 MSc students and a well-established doctoral programme of 50+ doctoral students.
SBM recently re-committed to our core purpose, that is, to promote social justice, sustainability and good governance in the management of private, public and voluntary organisations through our research and education. We organise our activities thematically, cross-cutting traditional divisions between disciplinary departments. Members of staff are typically members of one or more groups and centres in areas such as equality and diversity, globalisation, organisational history, business ecosystems, marketing as a social phenomenon, management and organisational learning, public policy and management, behavioural finance, development finance, governance and sustainability.
All applicants should be able to demonstrate the capacity to research and publish at the highest international levels, and to teach and supervise effectively across our main undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Applicants will be expected to show how their research interests complement those within the School. While experience of academic leadership roles is desirable, a willingness to contribute to academic leadership in the school is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of recognition and achievement commensurate with the seniority of the post through, for example, attracting research funding, leading research teams, shaping learned associations or journals, and/or demonstrating social impact of their research.
The post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range £52878 - £59104 per annum inclusive of London Allowance and include 30 days annual leave, USS pension scheme membership, and interest-free travel season ticket loan.
