About the Role

Applications are sought for a Centre Administrator to provide administrative, budgetary and secretarial support to the Centre Lead and deputy Centre Lead, Laboratory or Centre Manager and other assigned members of staff in their execution of Centre-related tasks, and assisting in the planning and organisation of the centre’s activities. The post will be based in the Centre for Haemato-Oncology, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

About You

Essential requirements for this post include GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent including English and Maths. Significant secretarial/administrative experience, in a busy executive setting, as well as the ability to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines, is essential. Experience of financial and other record keeping would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

About the Institute

The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists from the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine and the Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care. BCI is also a partner in the CRUK City of London Major Centre (together with UCL, Kings and the Francis Crick Institute) which is a Centre of Excellence in Biotherapeutics.  BCI is committed in supporting and developing future cancer researchers through its extensive postgraduate training.  It is one of six institutes within The School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD).

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment. The starting salary will be Grade 3, in the range of £28,208 - £34,733 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
