A Postdoctoral Research Assistant position is available in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences (Comparative Cognition lab). The post-holder will work with Dr Versace developing artificial intelligence models or learning, based on experiments with domestic chicks, on a Leverhulme funded project titled “Generalisation from limited experience: how to solve the problem of induction”. The role involves expertise in artificial intelligence/modeling and animal cognition.
You will have a PhD (or be close to completion) and skills to independently develop artificial intelligence models of learning and generalisation. Familiarity with Bayesian modelling will be beneficial and you should be confident in programming (e.g. Python), and using machine learning tools. Previous experience with animals is desirable.
You should be able to work independently and in collaboration with other researchers, to produce innovative research, maintain good records and to produce excellent oral and written reports/papers.
The post requires working closely in an interdisciplinary team with behavioural scientists, computer scientists and psychologists.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus. It is a full time (35 hours per week:), fixed term appointment for 12months (with the possibility of an extension thereafter). The ideal start date will be mid-June 2021. The salary will be within Grade 4, £33,324 - £36,098 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
