Queen Mary, University of London is the fourth largest College of the University of London and has gained a reputation for the high-quality of its academic teaching and research. It has some 25,000 students studying for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in three faculties: Science & Engineering; Humanities, Social Sciences and Law; and the School of Medicine and Dentistry. The university has around 4,500 staff and a turnover of £462m million per annum.


The Chief Operating Office wishes to appoint an Executive Assistant to provide high-level and comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of Finance.  The role will focus on ensuring the smooth, efficient and effective running of their agendas, diaries and meetings, as well as contributing more broadly to ensure that the wider Office is able to operate effectively. The role will require considerable initiative, judgement and adaptability to decide on appropriate courses of action and to react to changing circumstances.


This role will provide a central point of contact for the CFO and Director of Finance. As such, the post holder will liaise with a wide range of people at a very senior level in QMUL and at partner organisations and therefore will be expected to represent the Chief Operating Office and the institution in a professional, efficient and courteous manner. The post holder is expected to maintain complete confidentiality at all times.


The successful candidate should have A-Level qualifications or equivalent relevant experience, experience of managing sensitive diaries and business management activities in a complex environment, as well as excellent organisational skills.


This is a full time permanent post. The starting salary will be at the start of the Grade 4 band £34,220 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
