About the Role
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly-skilled human geneticist with specialization in genetics of complex disease to lead a project investigating genetics of obesity. The role involves applying genome-wide association study (GWAS) and genetic risk score strategies on obesity datasets and setting up and managing relevant analysis pipelines.
Candidates should have a PhD and post-doctoral experience, or equivalent experience, in a relevant discipline such as genetics or genetic epidemiology. Candidates will have experience working with human genetics data, integrating high-density genetic and phenotype data, and a strong track record of research productivity.

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is the largest of seven Institutes within Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. The Institute comprises approximately 400 staff based in five academic centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute delivers excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a part time (0.5 FTE), fixed term appointment for 1 year, with an expected start date of January 2021. The post can also be taken as a secondment. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £42,433 - £44,807 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
