About the Role
CCLS is looking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Shipping Law who will be required to undertake scholarly research leading to publications of the highest ranking; to teach in the areas of shipping law and take a leading role in the development of shipping law courses.
Ability to teach any or all of the following subjects would be an advantage:
1. Wet Shipping Law: Incidents and Collisions at Sea
2. International Regulation of Shipping
3. Law of the Sea, Navigational Freedoms and Practice
4. Admiralty Law
5. Shipbuilding, Ship Finance and Ship Sale and Purchase
We are particularly interested in appointing a candidate currently doing research or interested in doing research in one or more of the following fields:
- Autonomous Vessels;
- Marine pollution (including emissions) and climate change implications;
- Migrants at sea.
A PhD in Shipping law, and/or relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent professional experience is essential. At Lecturer level, an appropriate track-record of high quality research in the field of shipping law at a national and ideally international level, including publications in renowned journals is expected. At Senior Lecturer level, a proven track record of high quality research is required. Candidates should also have some experience of teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

The post is based at the Lincoln's Inn Fields Campus in London. It is full time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of September 2021. The starting salary at Lecturer Level will be in the range of £42,433 to £52,833 per annum or £55,840- £62,415 per annum at Senior Lecturer level, inclusive of London Allowance.
