About the Role


Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant position to work under the supervision of Dr Ana Jorge Sobrido, as part of a recently funded Newton Institutional Links project with Colombian partner, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana to study Colombian Bacterial Nanocellulose as Electrode in Supercapacitors.


About You


The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science or any other relevant subject. The candidate should be able to provide evidence of expertise in materials synthesis and characterisation, and a willingness to develop expertise in all areas that will be required for the project. 


About the School


This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with 70-80 academics and a similar number of postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1000 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students, supported by an administrative and technical staff team of 45. The successful candidate will join a team of six PhD students and one postdoc working on materials for energy storage and conversion applications, including photoelectrochemistry, oxygen electrocatalysis and redox flow batteries.

The post is based at the QMUL Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, fixed term appointment for 6 months, with an expected start date of April 2021. The starting salary will be £34,220 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
