About the Role

The role will support QMUL international research and innovation activities within the School and Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) and School of Humanity and Social Science (HSS). The post-holder will be proactive in the creation of international partnership opportunities supported by multiple funding sources, developing these into successful collaborative research proposals. He/she will communicate effectively with the faculties and external stakeholders through call alerts, newsletters and events; and manage an internal database on partnerships and project pipelines.


The purpose of this role is to identify and develop international research and innovation partnerships with ODA countries and high-performing research countries (e.g. US, Canada, Japan, Singapore and China), with an emphasis on initiating and supporting bilateral joint research proposals funded by the Newton Fund, UK-PACT, Fund for International Collaboration (FIC) and UKRI Lead Agency schemes etc. A strategic and analytical approach will be required to identify competitive advantage and assess academic research strengths as to their suitability for various types of international funding opportunities.


About You

The successful candidate will hold a post-graduate degree in health and medical sciences.  You will have at least 3 years’ experience in a research/innovation partnership and proposal development role, ideally within higher education.  You will have project management experience, with good organizational skills.  An understanding of innovation process, and international business practice would be desirable.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is part time (28 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 8 months, maternity cover, £41,000pa (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
