Overview:

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is seeking to recruit a Faculty Research Manager who will play a leading role in the development and delivery of the Faculty’s research and innovation strategy and to support its implementation across the Faculty.

As a highly motivated, proactive individual, the post holder will be responsible for leading and managing the Faculty research team to provide high quality research support, working closely with the Faculty Vice-Principal and Dean for Research in developing mechanisms to support research activity and ensure readiness for the next Research Excellence Framework (REF) and beyond.

This is a strategic and enabling role and the post holder will be expected to act on their own initiative, developing strong working relationships with colleagues across the Faculty and the university, analysing data and making recommendations. The post holder will perform a range of activities and duties whilst exercising initiative and judgement in determining work priorities and scheduling tasks appropriately to meet deadlines.

The successful candidate will have a good Honours degree, significant experience of research management in an academic environment and line management experience. A good understanding of REF, research impact and knowledge exchange as appropriate to the disciplines in the Faculty, and the ability to interrogate and interpret complex data are essential.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of 1 January 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The starting salary will be Grade 6, in the range of £47,325 - £52,833 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
