About the Role

The Lecturer in Law will contribute to the intellectual life of the Department and wider institution, by making contributions to student education and experience through curriculum development and the delivery of high quality teaching activities in the core subject areas of Law.

About You

You will have a PhD in Law, or equivalent professional experience and/or relevant professional qualification, and a demonstrable ability to teach at undergraduate level. Ideally you will have teaching accreditation from the Higher Education Academy at Fellow or Associate Fellow level, or be working towards this. A particular interest in teaching Property Law and Criminal Law would be an advantage.

About the Department

The School of Law is one of eight schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and has two organisational units: the Department of Law and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies. Established in 1965, the School of Law has grown from 30 students and four academic staff, to 1,939 students and 115 academic staff. The Department of Law focuses on the culture and institutions of the rule of law in creating civil society at all levels from the local to the transnational. As one of the largest law schools in the UK, it provides high quality teaching to more than 800 undergraduate students.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full time, fixed-term appointment, for one year, with an expected start date of January 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 5, £42,433 - £44,807 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
