We are seeking to appoint a candidate with experience of delivering high-quality teaching to our diverse undergraduate student body. The candidate would take a leading role in teaching and leading administrative duties. We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in Advanced Research Methods to teach on our Masters program.

The post holder will:

  • Contribute to the delivery of courses and the assessment of student achievement of the BSc and Masters programmes.
  • Engage in scholarship (i.e. pedagogical studies, development of industrial contacts, outreach).
  • Undertake administrative and other duties of academic staff.

Applicants must have appropriate subject knowledge and have the ability to teach at any level within the area of expertise and across a range of subjects at a more introductory level.

Candidates should have an excellent academic background with a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree and/or relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent professional experience.

The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences is a large and expanding academic unit, which provides a supportive and friendly environment and encourages interdisciplinary research. The Department of Biological and Experimental Psychology was founded in 2008 and currently comprises 17 permanent academics. We emphasise a modern interdisciplinary approach, at the interface between behavioural and biological aspects of psychology.

At QMUL, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable. Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers. We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum, a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.

This post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, permanent appointment, with a start date of 1 February 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary will be in Grade 5-6 in the range of £42,433 - £52,833 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability.
