About the Role
We are seeking to hire a Technical Support Manger and we are looking for a subject matter expert who has a passion for technologies, enterprise applications and is motivated by continuous improvement. The role is responsible for providing technical support for our Enterprise Applications which include systems that are used by our HR, finance and student registry departments. The application portfolio ranges from industry standard to niche Higher Education applications. As the Manager you will have extensive experience of a range of application platforms and technologies. This is a challenging and important position for a bright, motivated and enthusiastic person. The role will be a major contributor to the successful delivery of the Queen Mary Strategy 2030.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or able to demonstrate significant experience in technical support. Strong skills and experience in the following skillsets are essential:
· Experience of delivering technical support for a range of Enterprise Applications
· Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in the following:
· Microsoft Windows or Linux Servers
· AWS or Azure
· Web Servers such as Apache, Tomcat or IIS
· Ensuring the security of systems and information
· Very good understanding of common application platforms and frameworks and supporting infrastructure
· Ability to work with both technical and non-technical people
· Experience of managing the regular maintenance, patching and upgrade of critical applications within the constraints of a Higher Education Institution.

The post is a full time indefinite appointment. Salary is on our Grade 6 scale and will be in the range £47,325 to £52,833 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
