Information Security Manager





About the Role  

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Information Security Manager (ISM), reporting to the Head of Information Security (HoIS) working in the Office of the CIO. We are looking for a subject matter expert that has a passion for information security in an operational environment.

The ISM is the operational lead for information security at the University. Working with colleagues across IT Services and the wider University, the ISM will ensure that the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information assets are safeguarded against a wide range of internal and external information security threats.


Working closely with the HoIS, the ISM will be responsible for implementing key parts of the information security program and be at the frontline of identifying, detecting and responding to information security threats. 

Key responsibilities include:

·       Lead on identification, detection and response to information security incidents and events, using a new SOC service.

·       Contribute to the planning, production, distribution and enforcement of the Information Security Policies.

·       Plan and conduct information security reviews, assessments and audits and ensure any weaknesses or vulnerabilities are addressed.


About You

The successful candidate should be a self-motivated information security professional with experience in delivery of information security in a large-scale organization. You should have a solid knowledge and experience in assessing technology change for information security risks. 

You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, utilising your knowledge, experience and communication skills to ensure that stakeholders are not only aware of information security policy and best practice but are provided with the appropriate information security services to meet these requirements.

Ideally CISSP or CISM certified, coupled with demonstrable depth and breadth recent experience in operational security.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, permanent appointment. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £38,084 - £44,807 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
