Overview:

About the Role

This role is based within the Legal Advice Centre (LAC) in the Department of Law. The LAC Projects Coordinator works under the LAC Directors to assist in the day-to-day operation and running of the LAC, specifically coordinating and running the community projects which LAC students undertake. This project management role focuses on the education and development of Law Students engaging with the Legal Advice Centre.

About You

You will have a qualifying Law Degree (or equivalent), experience of running multiple projects, as well as working with external stakeholders from various organisations. You will be an excellent communicator with experience of teaching or leading group sessions and an understanding of how to provide a high standard of client care.

About the Legal Advice Centre

The LAC provides a free, accessible, client centered advice service to the public. We act as a first-tier advice agency: providing preliminary advice on the strength of the client’s case, the processes that need to be followed, and an explanation of complex legal issues. We also undertake projects in our local community to inform the public about their legal rights and responsibilities.

About Queen Mary

At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.

Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.

We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.

Benefits

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, permanent appointment with an expected start date of October 2020. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £34,220 - £40,194 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly.

The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check, and issue of contract will be reliant on this being approved.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Frances Ridout at frances.ridout@qmul.ac.uk or on +44 (0) 020 7882 3976.
