Academic Practice Taught Programmes Manager



About the Role

The purpose of this role is to manage the taught programmes in academic practice/teaching and learning to include its alignment to the UKPSF. The postholder will contribute towards teaching on the programme and assessment of coursework, as well as ensuring all programme logistics are delivered in a professional and efficient manner. The postholder will be responsible for designing and developing taught programmes that meet the needs of academic staff and which meets the aims of the university strategy (and all relevant related strategies). The postholder will be able to provide an inspirational educational experience to academic staff and ensure that the programme design includes contributions from educators and relevant staff across the institution.


About You

The post-holder will have significant experience of teaching, learning and assessment methodologies and curriculum design and a strong understanding of effective pedagogy in higher education. The postholder will have significant experience of convening academic programmes and of programme accreditation, examination board processes, external examining or equivalent. You will also have an excellent knowledge of the UKPSF and experience of mentoring staff to obtain Fellowship.


About the Queen Mary Academy

The Queen Mary Academy is a new flagship department at Queen Mary and its purpose is to provide development for academic, teaching staff, research staff, and research students. Located within the Office of the Principal, the Queen Mary Academy will work to deliver a comprehensive development portfolio guided by Queen Mary’s 2030 Strategy. The Queen Mary Academy reports to the Vice-Principal (Education) and will work closely with the Faculty Deans for Education to ensure close academic involvement in the delivery of the development programme.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a part time (14 hours per week, Monday - Tuesday), permanent appointment with an expected start date of 1 September 2020 or earlier. The starting salary will be Grade 6, in the range of £47,325 - £52,833 pro rata per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
