About the Role
Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to undertake research investigations in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator in order to realise the objectives and development of the research programme. The research will be based in the Centre for Haemato-Oncology, Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL).
Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant biological subject and an undergraduate degree in a biological subject. Significant research laboratory experience (> 7 years, full time) including cell culture, basic molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and genetic mouse models is essential. Experience in some of these fields: stem cell biology, experimental haematology, metabolism, signalling pathways, protein degradation; would be desirable. An appropriate publication record would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
Our team works to identify mechanisms that support haematopoietic stem cell function and understand how leukaemic stem cells “play” with these mechanisms to thrive. We have a strong track record on addressing long-standing questions in experimental haematology (e.g. Ganuza et al. Nat Cell Biol. 2017; Ganuza et al., Nat. Commun. 2018; Ganuza et al. Blood, 2019)
The candidate will join a vibrant multidisciplinary environment with a strong critical mass in haematology and tumour cell biology, and will be supported to develop their scientific career and have an impact in the haematopoietic field.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is a full time (37.5 hours/week), fixed-term position for 2 years, with an expected start date of 1st October 2020. The starting salary will be Grade 4/5, in the range £34,220-£40,194 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
