About the Role
This is a 12-month maternity cover position. It requires an inspiring leader of a large operational team, to oversee a complex and busy portfolio comprising of three academic faculties and the central professional services directorate equating to approximately 5500 staff.
This is a critical operational role that manages the delivery of quality HR services in the following areas;
- Recruitment administration and advice;
- Contract management;
- Employment related UK Visa and Immigration administration.
You will be responsible for supporting the continuous improvement and delivery of services, for leading on related projects, and will develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues from across the University.
You have the experience, commitment and drive to support the HR team in the delivery of the operational and recruitment service. With experience gained in a similar role, you manage a busy and complex workload for a variety of stakeholders. Crucially, you will have a genuine care for the promotion of best practice, evidencing a commitment to Queen Mary’s ethos and values and to equality, diversity and inclusion.

The HR Function sits within the professional services directorate and is part of the professional services group that enable and facilitate the success of our students and academics. Along with other professional service areas, the HR Department seeks to deliver value for money through efficiency, economy, effectiveness and equity.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus with some travel to Charterhouse Square and is a full time fixed term appointment for up to 12 months. The expected start date will be June/July 2020 and the salary will be in the Grade 6 salary range of £47,325 - £52,833 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
