About the Role
Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to investigate mechanical sensing in vascular smooth muscle cells and its involvement in cardiovascular disease.
The position will be based at the Iskratsch lab in the Division of Bioengineering at Queen Mary University of London, in collaboration with the Shanahan lab and Jones lab at King's College London, who will be involved in project planning and supervision and will contribute with extensive expertise in vascular biology and cytoskeleton research, respectively.
Applicants will have a PhD in a relevant subject (e.g. mechanobiology, cell biology, biophysics, cardiovascular biology) and should have prior research experience and contributions using mechanobiology techniques, cytoskeletal biology and advanced imaging approaches, computational analysis, as well as extensive experience with cell culture and standard biochemistry and molecular biology methods.

This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with approximately 70 academic staff and 45 postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1000 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students. Circa 40 administrative and technical staff support the staff and students.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, fixed term appointment for 3 years, with an expected start date of Sept 1st 2020. The starting salary will be in the range of £34220- £36097 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
