The William Harvey Research Institute leads major international programmes investigating the genetic and pathogenic mechanisms of cardiovascular, inflammatory and endocrine diseases. The Institute is also closely integrated with other Institutes within Barts and The London Medical School, which was ranked in the top 5 UK Medical Schools in the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise.
Applications are invited for a Bart’s Charity funded position of a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant within the Centre for Biochemical Pharmacology. The appointee will join a highly motivated team of scientists investigating the actions of omega-3 derived resolvins on synovial fibroblasts within the arthritic joint.
Experience in flow cytometry, microscopy techniques and/or in vivo models will be highly desirable. Applicants must also have excellent technical, computing, communication and team working skills. The successful candidate should have a PhD in a related biological sciences discipline or equivalent professional experience and have experience covering the full range of duties required for the post.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
The post is full time and fixed-term for 2 years in the first instance. Starting salary will be £34,220 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
