Queen Mary, University of London is looking to appoint a School and Research Services Assistant who will provide a comprehensive administrative service in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science.

The postholder will support the School’s Research and School Services Managers in administering the development and operation of research within the School, particularly in respect of finance and Human Resource management. The post holder will advise and support staff in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science with regard to procedures and policies relating to HR and research, and will maintain and monitor the School’s research portfolio. 

Applicants should be educated to degree level or equivalent and must have substantial experience in an administrative office or similar role.  Excellent organisational skills are essential, including the ability to prioritise a varied and demanding workload, combined with accuracy and strict attention to detail.   The role requires substantial experience of, and highly developed skills for, using IT for administrative purposes; knowledge of databases and spreadsheets would be an advantage. Experience of financial and/or human resources administration is desirable and experience of working in a research environment would be beneficial.  

The post is full time, fixed term appointment for 12 months.  Starting salary will be in the range £27,742 - £34,220 inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave and an occupational pension scheme.

This is a fixed-term, full-time post for 12 months from May 2020. This post is available due to maternity leave, and it is expected that the successful candidate will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity leave exercise her right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month.
