Overview:

Applications are invited for the post of Research Administrator (Maternity Cover) within the Blizard Institute. The post will support the research strategy of the Blizard Institute by providing effective administrative support for all aspects of post graduate research student support, as well as organising the Institute’s monthly research committee.

 

Candidates must be able to manage a complex, varied workload, use judgement and initiative and communicate effectively with a diverse range of organisations, groups and individuals. Administrative experience in higher education or the NHS would be highly desirable.

 

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is the largest of seven Institutes within Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 400 staff based in five academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is part time (21 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 12 months, with an expected start date of July 2020. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £34,220 - £40,194 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance. This post is available due to maternity leave, and it is expected that the successful candidate will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity leave exercise her right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month. Applications for secondment are welcome.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
