About the Role
The Hospitality Chef is a senior post and reports directly to the Head Chef. The post holder has overall responsibility for the development and production of all hospitality food for events and functions including, guest dinners, weddings, conferences, academic functions and business meetings. The purpose of the role is to grow the reputation of hospitality at Queen Mary, through innovation in the food offer, liaising closely with the hospitality manager to continuously improve the quality of the offering, modernising the styles of service and improving profitability through control on GP%. This area of business has grown significantly in the last 12 months, income rising to over £2m per annum, forecast to increase to over £3m in the next 12-18 months
Your key skills will lie in delivering quality catering for large high profile hospitality events, and you will have significant experience in managing staff and operational delivery across multiple sites. You will have good knowledge of food purchasing and IT systems related to this and food safety and health and safety will be of paramount importance to you. You will have the communication skills to be as effective with our customers as you are with your team and colleagues

The post is based at the Mile End campus with work at all campuses. It is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £38,084-44,807 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
