This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with approximately 70-80 academics and approximately 50 postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1000 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students. Circa 40 administrative and technical staff support the staff and students. About the role

The school of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London has a vacancy for a Student Administrator.  This role supports taught students in the School of Engineering and Materials Science through student enquiry management and delivery of essential administrative processes including timetabling, support to the examinations process, coursework administration and running the front of house service in the School Office. The post holder is an important member of the School’s Student Experience and Admissions Team who is responsible for triaging and resolving student queries under the direction of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Officer; working closely with academic staff and team members, particularly the Student Support Officer, to deliver excellent student experience.

Candidates should have relevant experience working in a busy environment, ideally in Higher Education and the ability to organize and prioritise workloads as well as attention to detail and having a proactive approach to tasks.  An understanding of student support issues and experience of administrative systems within a University of similar environment is desirable.

The post is a full-time, permanent appointment and is available from January 2020. Starting salary will be £27,742 to £34,220 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
