Antenatal Screening Laboratory Manager

The Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine is looking to fill a post to act as Antenatal Screening Laboratory Manager for this friendly and active teaching and research Institute currently based at Charterhouse Square in the City of London, though relocating to Whitechapel within the next 6 months

This role involves the day to day running of the screening laboratory, managing a small team of laboratory based staff. Excellent management, organisational and communication skills are essentialThis is a UKAS accredited laboratory (ISO 15189) and the applicant will be expected to have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the accreditation process and how to ensure the laboratory remains compliant. Other duties will include responsibility for the daily operation of immunoassay and associated equipment.  The Laboratory manager will need to work closely with both the Programme Screening Manager and Clinical Director.  The laboratory is also active in academic work and the laboratory manager will be expected to manage any laboratory based work.  This post would be suitable for someone with a Biomedical Science background who has experience of managing a laboratory and is looking to move into the service/academic sector. A knowledge of antenatal screening would be an advantage.

The post is full-time. The salary will be in the range £38,084 - £44,807 depending upon experience (including London weighting, and pro rata).  Working hours will usually be 09.00am to 5.00pm, although some flexibility may be required to ensure daily workloads are completed.  The benefits package includes 30 days’ annual leave (pro rata for part time) plus four College closure days; a pension scheme and an interest-free season ticket loan after qualifying period.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
