Centre of the Cell is the first science education centre in the world to be located within medical research laboratories. Centre of the Cell has visitors from school groups during term time and family groups during the school holidays. It also runs an outreach programme for schools, and a Youth Membership Scheme for young people aged 14 – 19. In early 2019, the Centre opened its second learning space, ‘Neuron Pod’, home to the Centre’s topic-led science shows and workshops. .
Centre of the Cell is seeking an exceptional individual to lead their learning and outreach programmes at this exciting phase of the Centre’s development. The post-holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Centre’s learning programme, including management of the core team and a team of casual staff.
We are seeking a flexible, ambitious, motivated and inspirational individual who has experience of developing and managing learning programmes and/or projects in a museum, informal science centre or educational charity. We expect the successful applicant to have substantial management experience and to have worked in science communication and a widening participation environment during their career. Experience of evaluation of public engagement/science communication projects is also essential. Experience in fundraising is desirable.
The post is full time for one year initially. Salary will be in the range £37,084 - £44,807 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, a pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
