This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with approximately 80 academic staff and 40 postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1000 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students. 45 administrative and technical staff support the staff and students. The staff and student body are international in make-up. The School is partway through a refurbishment project that is upgrading research and teaching space. The School holds a departmental-level Bronze Athena SWAN award and is committed to equality of opportunity.

About the role

The School of Engineering and Materials Science is seeking to appoint a Finance Manager to effectively manage the financial activity of the School, and to provide advice and guidance to students and colleagues regarding financial processes. The post will line manage a Finance Officer and oversee all financial processes, and will report to the School Manager.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have experience of financial management and finance administrative systems (ideally Agresso).  Experience of working within the Higher Education sector and line management is desirable.

The post is a full time appointment, with an expected start date of March or April 2020. Starting salary will be in the range of £38,084 - £44,807 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
