We are looking to appoint a Lab Manager (Grade 5), to work in the School of Economics and Finance. This post will operationally manage the School’s new Trading and Behavioural Lab.

As Lab Manager, you will be responsible for managing and providing technical support for the running of experiments and research with the School’s behavioural Lab facility. You will set-up and maintain systems to support the running of experiments. You will also be required to promote the lab facility to researchers and participants, and maintain a database of potential experimental participants. You will also work closely with and provide support to the Academic Director of the Behavioural Lab facility.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with experience of working with laboratory equipment used in behavioural and technical knowledge of experimental research methodology.  You will have good programming skills with programmes such as C++ or java and knowledge of web technologies such as php language or MySQL. You will have a good understanding of the research process, and an ability to develop a good understanding of academics’ research work to provide effective support of the research experiment work. A proven ability to use initiative to set-up and maintain processes and procedures is essential, as is having excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with participants and researchers.

The post is part time and fixed term for 1 year. The starting salary will be in the range of £38,084-£44,807 per annum (pro rata) inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave (pro rata), defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
