This is an exciting role which will involves taking the lead in the developing and administrating Raise and Give (RAG) and Student Media, coordinating our Welcome Crew, supporting Campaigning and Political Societies, and co-managing the Student Engagement Administrator.
The Students’ Union represents and supports over 18,000 students who make up the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL). Our mission is to ‘Together, We Improve Students’ Lives’. The successful candidate will have a passion and enthusiasm for and a commitment to improving the student experience.
The Students’ Union has 8 Student Media Outlets which includes a newspaper, magazines, radio and a TV station. Our students are active in fundraising for local, national and international causes through our two RAG groups and Adopt a Charity, a scheme which supports our student groups to fundraise for causes they are passionate about. Post holder duties involved in leading on all aspects of Student Med and RAG include administrative support for students and student groups, advising committees, organising events, monitoring budgets, training and development, and ensuring all activities are compliant with relevant guidance and regulation.
The Student Engagement Team also supports over 250 student-led societies. The post holder will be the first point of contact for Campaigning and Political Societies, providing support, advice and assistance to enable all students involved in these societies to have the best possible experience.
The Students’ Union recruit over 60 students to volunteer to help welcome new students to QMUL each year. The Student Engagement Administrator will coordinate this project including volunteer recruitment, volunteer coordinator, and reward and recognition.
Applicants should have a good understanding of the needs of students and should be passionate and enthusiastic for improving the student experience. They should be able to plan and prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of people. Applicants should have experience of fundraising and/or being involved in student media.
The post is a full time, permanent appointment with an expected start date of January 2020. Starting salary will be £27,742 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance and raises 1 point annually as set out in the QM Pay and Grading Structure. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
