We are seeking an independent and motivated Archivist to lead a team of professional Archivists and Librarians in the management of Archives and Special Collections; the team sits within the Research Support section of Library Services, and the post-holder will report to the Head of Library Research Support. Working closely with a range of stakeholders and partners, the Lead Archivist is responsible for the development and management of archives, rare books and other special collections for study and research. In addition, the post holder leads outreach and engagement activities, as well as the development of services in the management and preservation of born-digital and digitised collections.

Location: Based at Mile End Library, but with occasional travel to the Whitechapel and West Smithfield campuses as required by the needs of the service.
Hours: 35 hours per week, usually Monday to Friday, but with very occasional weekend or evening working in relation to events.
Starting salary will be in the range £38,084 - £44,807 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
