The Head of Information Security (HoIS) is responsible for ensuring that the security profile of the University is improved through training, policy, culture, process and technology. The HoIS will work with partners and third parties to ultimately protect data on all University systems, comply fully with all relevant legislation and protect IT service provision from internal and external security and cyber threats which may come from state actors, hacktivists, fraudsters through DDOS and phishing attacks on staff and students.
The HoIS is an advocate for the University’s total information security needs and is responsible for the development and delivery of a comprehensive information security strategy to optimise the security profile of the University. The HoIS leads the development and implementation of a security program that leverages collaborations and campus-wide resources, facilitates information on security governance, advises senior leadership on security direction and resource investments and designs appropriate policies to manage information security risk. The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that is engaging, imaginative, and collaborative, with the ability to work with other leaders to set the best balance between security strategies, risk and other University priorities.
The IT Services function sits within the Professional Services Department and is part of the Professional Services group that enables and facilitates the success of our students and academics. Along with other Professional Services areas, IT Services seeks to deliver value for money through technology, efficiency, economy, effectiveness and equity
You will be reporting to the Assistant Director ITS Operations.
The post is full time and permanent. Salary will be in the range £55,840 - £62,415 per annum inclusive of London allowance plus a possible market supplement. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
