The Language Centre Department, School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, is looking to appoint to a suitably qualified Programme Convenor from 1st January 2020.
The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching, scholarly activity and administration on the Language Centre’s in-sessional programme, managing delivery of the modules and contributing strategically towards their promotion, development and enhancement. The post-holder will also be responsible for the in-sessional programme design, implementation, and quality, which includes the assessment processes, supervision and development of teaching staff, and liaison with internal and external academic and non-academic stakeholders. In addition, the post-holder will make a leading contribution to the long-term development of the in-sessional programme to ensure that it is appropriately positioned to enhance students’ success, and will make innovations in key aspects of teaching and learning, including the design of materials, new modules and/or options.
This post contains no research element, although the post-holder is expected to keep up-to-date with developments in the field of language teaching pedagogy.
The successful candidate will have recognised qualifications in English language teaching (level 7) or a related field; proven experience of leading a team of teachers and managing academic programmes in a higher education environment.
The post is full-time and permanent, and is available from 1st January 2020. The salary range will be £47,325 - £49,997 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme and a season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
