Salary: £48,642 - £49,997

Reference: QMUL19943

We are opening a second round of recruitment for 3-year Fixed Term Lectureships offering a competitive salary plus a £180,000 support package which can be spent flexibly. We are looking for 4 to 8 ambitious new recruits who can build on our existing strengths and add capacity to our areas of excellence. The Barts Charity Lectureship offers an early career researcher a route to enhance their development to group leader and independent scientists. The Candidate will need to provide 6 monthly updates of their research progress, papers and grant application preparation to the Dean for Research which will be shared on an annual basis with Barts Charity. At the end of the second year the Institute Director and Dean for Research will assess achievements and if the candidate is to be offered a tenured post at the end of the 3-year lectureship. It is expected that many applicants may already be in possession of external funded scholarships and may wish to bring these to the SMD with a view to obtaining a permanent post, where this applies it should be made clear within the application form.

We expect these academics to bring intellecutal enthusiasm and dynamism for developing new cross-campus research collaborations, including interdisciplinary projects, with the awareness of the opportunities available in external funding initiatives. There is no limit or restrictions on the area of research, though interests should complement the research strategy of the Faculty:

• Set out a plan for how research will be developed further over the next three years with a clear plan for grant applications
