Queen Mary Library Services are seeking an Information Support Assistant, for a varied role in our frontline services. The post will be based at Mile End and Whitechapel Libraries, with the expectation of cross-site working at any of our 3 sites located at Mile End, Whitechapel and West Smithfield. We offer a varied combination of training courses, visits to Higher Education and special libraires and other development activities.
After initial training, Information Support Assistants form part of the first-line Library Services, and take a lead in delivering high standards of service to university members and visitors. Duties include staffing service points, monitoring facilities and equipment, shelving and providing point-of-need help with print, audio-visual and digital materials. A willingness to be flexible in an environment with long opening hours to support the needs of the University’s diverse population is welcomed.
The post-holder must have a confident manner, be educated to at least GCSE or equivalent level (including Maths and English), and possess good communication and basic IT skills. Previous experience in a service environment is essential and library experience would be an advantage, though not essential.
This post is full time 35 hours a week, 52 weeks per year and is a permanent post. There is a requirement to work 1 Bank Holiday per year.
Salary range is £22,212 - £27,034 per annum. Other benefits include 30 days annual leave, and pension scheme.

Information Support Assistant (1 post)
Sunday 10:45 – 18:15 at Mile End
Monday 0800 – 1600, Tuesday 1000 to 1800 at Whitechapel
Wednesday and Thursday 1200 – 2000 at Mile End
During the medical school summer vacation, from mid-July until the end of August instead of working on Sunday you will be working on Fridays 1200 – 2000 at Mile End.
Changes of location may be required to address service needs.
