Overview:

 

Applications are sought for a Research Technician to provide comprehensive histopathology support to the whole of BCI and some external units. The postholder will also assist the histopathology core service team in delivery of a high quality service. The successful applicant will have a BSc or equivalent in a biological or related science.  The research will be based in the Histopathology Core Service Laboratories, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

Essential requirements for this post include experience of working in an academic research laboratory, as well as experience in histopathological techniques, including tissue processing, cryotomy and microtomy, immunohistochemistry and basic tissue staining methods. Experience Experience in clinical tissue handling and preparation for pathological study would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The post is full time and for 3 years in the first instance.  Starting salary will be in the range £33,615-£39,483 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave,pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.
