This is an exciting role which will involves taking the lead in the developing and administrating Raise and Give (RAG) and Student Media, coordinating our Welcome Crew, supporting Campaigning and Political Societies, and co-managing the Student Engagement Administrator.
The Students’ Union represents and supports 23,000 students who make up the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL). Our mission is to ‘Together, We Improve Students’ Lives’. The successful candidate will have a passion and enthusiasm for and a commitment to improving the student experience.
The post holder will lead in all aspects of running RAG and Student Media, will coordinate our Welcome Crew volunteers, and will assist with supporting our Campaigning and Political societies. Duties include administrative support, advising committees, organising events, monitoring budgets, training and development, and ensuring all activities are compliant with relevant guidance and regulation.
The Students’ Union has 8 Student Media Outlets which includes a newspaper, magazines, radio and a TV station. Our students are active in fundraising for local, national and international causes through our two Raise & Give groups and our Adopt a Charity, a scheme which supports our student groups to fundraise for causes they are passionate about. Thousands of pounds are raised each year through our student-led fundraising. The role involves supporting students involved in Student Media to develop their outlets and produce high quality work and to support our RAG committees and student groups to run safe and successful fundraising events.
The Student Engagement Team also supports over 250 student-led society with a combined membership of 6000 students. The post holder will be the first point of contact for Campaigning and Political Societies, providing support, advice and assistance to enable all students involved in these societies to have the best possible experience.
The Students’ Union recruit around 100 students to volunteer to help welcome new students to QMUL each year. The Student Engagement Coordinator will coordinate this project including recruitment, volunteer coordinator, and reward and recognition.
Applicants should have a good understanding of the needs of students and should be passionate and enthusiastic for improving the student experience. They should be able to plan and prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of people.
The post is full time, permanent appointment with an expected start date of June 2019. Starting salary will be £27, 251 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, plus university closure days, free gym membership, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
