WILLIAM HARVEY RESEARCH INSTITUTE
Centre for Translational Medicine & Therapeutics
Cardiovascular Pharmacology Group
Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Vascular Pharmacology
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position in a productive and interactive laboratory, with diverse expertise and access to a wide range of specialised equipment, within the William Harvey Heart Centre, part of the internationally renowned William Harvey Research Institute at Barts & The London School of Medicine & Dentistry.
The post, which is a 1-year position funded by the British Heart Foundation, will involve characterisation of the structure-activity relationship (SAR) around a series of novel natriuretic peptide receptor agonists in the setting of heart failure and myocardial infarction. This project will comprise a multi-disciplinary strategy including cell-based assays, biochemical techniques, and in vitro functional pharmacological assessment of vascular reactivity. The successful candidate will join a team of young scientists investigating wider physiological roles and pathological dysfunction of natriuretic peptide signalling in the cardiovascular system.
The post would be ideally suited to a newly qualified PhD, or post-doctoral fellow with some experience. The applicant should have a broad background in in vitro vascular structure & function, but specifically expertise in organ bath pharmacology and/or myography. An interest in natriuretic peptide/cGMP -driven signalling pathways would be beneficial.
The post is full time for 12 months, starting from 1st August 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Starting salary will be in the range £33,615 - £35,459 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
Informal enquiries should be addressed to Prof. Adrian Hobbs at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0207 882 5778.
Application enquires can be made by email to email@example.com
