Overview:

Applications are sought for a Research Technician to provide technical support to the Evolution and Cancer laboratory. The successful applicant will particularly assist in laser capture microdissection, DNA/RNA extractions and next generation sequencing library preparations, and additionally with immunohistochemistry, PCR, microscopy, and the assessment and collection of clinical samples. The research will be based in the Centre for Tumour Biology, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

Essential requirements for this post include an undergraduate degree in a biological or related science subject and experience of working in a biomedical research laboratory. Experience of DNA extractions and quality control and immunohistochemistry techniques are also essential. A demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also required.

The post is a full time, fixed term position for 12 months. Starting salary will be in the range £27,251 - £33,615 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

The Barts Cancer Institute requires applicants to provide all certificates at interview to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.  Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
