Queen Mary University of London’s activities are very diverse, leading to a complex role for the health and safety advisory staff. The function of the Health and Safety Directorate is to provide health, safety and fire safety advice, support, monitoring and training to enable QMUL to achieve compliance with health and safety legislation and promote a positive health and safety culture. 

The Health and Safety Manager (Science & Engineering) will have responsibility for providing a comprehensive health and safety service to the Faculty of Science & Engineering. A significant part of the role will be concerned with ensuring that the health & safety risks arising from Science & Engineering operations are identified and managed appropriately. Additionally, the post holder will provide comprehensive chemical safety advice and carry out the role of non-ionising Radiation Protection Officer across QMUL.

Suitable applicants should have Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and be a Chartered Member of IOSH or equivalent professional body. They should also have significant, relevant experience in a similar role in an organisation of equivalent complexity to QMUL.

This post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range of £46,489 - £51,899 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
