Postdoctoral Researcher

The Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology opened in May 2007 and is led by Professor Costantino Pitzalis. The Centre is focused on the development of innovative therapeutic and diagnostic approaches to inflammatory and degenerative arthropathies, including rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis. The emphasis is on translational research by combining strengths and expertise of basic and clinician scientists working together.  The Centre offers newly refurbished laboratories, cutting edge facilities and is located in the heart of the City of London in close proximity to the Barbican Arts and Music Centre. The Centre is integrated in the Musculoskeletal Clinical Academic Unit at Barts Health NHS Trust also directed by Professor Pitzalis, which includes in addition to Rheumatology, Orthopaedics and Sport and Exercise Medicine offering unique translational opportunities.

The primary role of the Postdoctoral Researcher will be to assist and provide scientific and technical support for a research project investigating the role of IKZF1, IKZF3 and other targets in B cell homeostasis in SLE, Sjogren’s syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This work will include immunohistology, cell culture and in vitro differentiation of primary human cells, complex flow cytometry, genetic and transcriptomic analysis, serum analysis and lentiviral silencing and other in vitro cell manipulation experiments.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 36 months. 

Salary will be in the range of £33,615 - £41,682 per annum, depending on experience, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
