Senior Project Manager

Highly competitive salary plus excellent benefits

Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is one of the UK's leading research-focused higher education institutions. With more than 25,000 students, 4,500 staff and an annual turnover of £430m, we teach and research across a wide range of subjects in humanities and social sciences, medicine and dentistry, and science and engineering. Based in a creative and culturally diverse area of east London, we are the only London University able to offer a completely integrated residential campus, with c. 2700 student bedrooms.

The Estates and Facilities Directorate is core to the University’s strategic ambition to provide a world-class managed estate with excellent facilities for staff and students. The Capital Development team within Estates and Facilities are responsible for the masterplanning and development of all campuses forming the QMUL estate. The team manage a large capital programme from inception to completion, delivering projects on budget, on programme and to a high standard of quality. The improvement in facilities supports academic research and enhances the student experience.

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join the Capital Development team and play a leading role in the delivery of a range of major projects that emanate from the capital development programme. You will initially work as the lead on a major student accommodation scheme that will see the development of several hundred new bedspaces on the Mile End campus. It is also anticipated that you will deliver other student accommodation redevelopment projects and a range of projects to improve commercial facilities and physical improvements to facilities to improve student and staff experience.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading large-scale refurbishment and new build projects in a lead project manager role. We are seeking an individual with experience of managing projects with comparable characteristics to the ones found at QMUL, with prior experience of leading the delivery of student accommodation development projects being very important. We are expecting candidates to have a proven track record and professional background in the development and construction industry in a project management role.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead one of the largest student accommodation projects in the London market in a client-side project management role.
