Applications are sought for a Biospecimens Assistant to prepare samples from patients in clinical trials, either by extracting DNA and RNA or cutting sections from paraffin embedded tissues and generating TMAs. The technician will also assist in sample receipting, tracking and storage. The research will be based in the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.
The postholder must have a BSc or equivalent in a biological or related science. Essential requirements for this post include experience of working in a research laboratory (preferably in a translational environment), as well as experience in extracting DNA and RNA from patient samples. The postholder should also be able to prepare sections from paraffin embedded material and stain for H&E. Knowledge in preparing tissue microarrays would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.
The post is a full time, permanent contract. Starting salary will be in the range £27,251 - £33,615) per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
