We are now looking to appoint a Business Partnerships Manager to support our Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The post-holder will be based in an established Business and Partnerships team that is part of QMUL’s Research Services Directorate. 


The successful candidate would work closely with the academic staff in the Faculty, the Faculty Research Manager as well as School Research Managers to develop relationships with external organisations including commercial, government and not-for-profit sectors. The focus for the development of research partnerships will be through collaborative research schemes (e.g. UK Research and Innovation) and strategic, capacity building bids, Research England Development (RED) fund as well as contract research and tenders. 


The post-holder will manage and deliver the business enterprise support to the HSS Faculty. This will require identifying key partners and funding opportunities; supporting high quality research bids; negotiating contracts and agreements; and advising on strategies to deliver future success. There will be an emphasis on generating substantial, long-term relationships with partners, recognising the wider benefits that these types of relationships bring to academic research, teaching and impact across the Faculty. This role will also be responsible for managing and overseeing the HSS Collaboration fund,that enables the building of collaborations outside of HEI.


The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and relationship management skills, alongside commercial acumen and a proactive, creative approach to resourcing academic research. You will have experience of working at the interface between public and private sectors, ideally gained through working in a similar role in a research-intensive University or commercial environment.  


The post is full time and permanent with a starting salary of £ 46,489pa inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.


Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
