Centre of the Cell is the first science education centre in the world to be located within a working medical research laboratory. The Centre is located in Whitechapel, East London.
Applications are invited for the post of Explainer at Centre of the Cell. The postholder will be a key point of contact for visitors to Centre of the Cell and will deliver high-quality educational activities on behalf of the Centre. The postholder will present our flagship ‘Pod show’ sessions, plus workshops and science shows at the Centre and at outreach events.
Candidates must be able to manage a varied workload, use judgment and initiative and communicate effectively with a diverse range of organisations and people. Excellent presentation and communications skills are essential. Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours on a regular basis.
The post is part-time (0.8 FTE / 4 days a week) for 1 year, starting January 2019 or soon after. The days of work are flexible and will be negotiated with the successful candidate. Starting salary will be £21,696 pro rata, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave pro rata and defined benefit pension scheme.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
