Research Portfolio Officer

Applications are sought for a Research Portfolio Officer to facilitate the efficient set-up of hosted clinical trials at Barts Health NHS Trust. The post will be based in the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London.

The successful candidate will be required to proactively build and establish excellent working relationships with Life Science Industry Partners, providing them with a single point of contact service for the CECM. In addition, the post-holder will be required to coordinate the collation of accurate documentation and information for study set-up, conduct portfolio reviews in conjunction with the clinical leads to ensure studies are assessed for feasibility and timelines are being met. This role is expected to assist with the training and supervision of junior staff, this may involve participation in the induction of new staff.

Essential requirements for the post include significant experience of working in a clinical research management environment as well as detailed knowledge of clinical trial development process and clinical trial regulations. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team as well as self motivation and ability to work flexibly are also essential. Previous experience in an oncology setting or project management/coordination would be an advantage.

The post is full time and for 12 months. Starting salary will be in the range £33,615 - £39,483 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

The Barts Cancer Institute requires applicants to provide all certificates at interview to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.  Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
