The university’s Disability and Dyslexia Service is situated within Student and Academic Services and offers support for all students with disabilities, specific learning difficulties and mental health issues at Queen Mary University of London. The service provides students with advice on how to access funding for they support they require; it arranges diagnostic assessments for specific learning difficulties, needs assessments, as well as access to alternative formats for course materials; it can also arrange, where appropriate, loans of equipment and the provision of “non-medical help services”, e.g. note-takers.

This post has been created because of long-term staff sickness within the Disability and Dyslexia Service on a temporary basis, i.e. for six months from the date of appointment. The successful candidate will act as a first point of contact for the university’s disabled students, including those with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, to implement appropriate support and the reasonable adjustments that they require to successfully study at the university. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a disability service at a Higher Education Institution and a thorough knowledge of the support mechanisms open to disabled students.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme. Appointments will be made subject to an enhanced DBS check.

This post is full-time, 35 hours per week, for six months, with a pro-rata salary within the range £37,411- £44,015 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include generous annual leave entitlement, an interest free season ticket loan, childcare vouchers scheme and a pension scheme.
