This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS), a large School with ~70 academics, approximately 45 research staff, over 200 PhD Students and around 1000 taught students. SEMS includes 26 academics, working in fundamental and applied aspects of materials science. The Schools are part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, which comprises five schools and two institutes. The project is in collaboration with researchers in the universities of Manchester and Surrey, and industrial collaborators.
About the role
The School of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London has a vacancy for a Materials Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work on the development of new processing routes for thermoelectric materials. Including working with industrial partners to take the work towards commercialisations
Applicants should have, or be about to gain, a PhD or equivalent in Materials Science. They should have expertise in advanced materials processing techniques.
The post is full time and fixed term for 12 months, although this may be extended a further 6 months upon receipt of additional funding. The project is funded by EPSRC and Energy Entrepreneur funding and is expected to start in December, 2018. The starting salary will be between £33,615 and £39,483 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. (Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, a pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan).
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
